Experts: Constitutional Court may declare electoral law unconstitutional if parliamentary elections go badly for governmentExperts do not rule out that Ukraine's Constitutional Court may declare the law on the election of people's deputies of Ukraine unconstitutional if the result of the 2012 parliamentary elections is unfavorable for the authorities.

"I don't rule out that our Constitutional Court may also declare unconstitutional this unfortunate [law on the election of people's deputies of Ukraine], in the same way as it declared the constitution unconstitutional," Professor of Law Viktor Musiyaka, an MP of the second and fourth convocations, said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

A scientist and lawyer, Oleksiy Honcharuk, in turn, said that various political dirty tricks could be used during the election process.

"We all understand how it has to be. Such a position by the Constitutional Court, if it's adopted, will have nothing to do with law. But we're ready for that," he said.

Musiyaka and Honcharuk are the co-authors of a book entitled "The Law of Ukraine on the Election of People's Deputies of Ukraine. Scientific and Practical Commentary," which was presented in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The book presents the conclusions and comments with respect to certain provisions of the law and other legislative acts related to it.
