| Kyiv has denied allegations that Ukraine, according to preliminary data, tapped 438.3 million cubic meters of gas intended for European consumers during the first 15 days of February 2012.
A Gazprom source announced such data to Interfax on Tuesday.
A source at Naftogaz Ukrainy, in turn, told Interfax-Ukraine that such allegations were untrue.
The source said that Ukraine receives natural gas on the border with Russia in the amount envisaged by technical agreements.
The source also said that in February 2012, Naftogaz compensated for a reduction in supplies of Russian gas on its eastern border by using reserves from its gas storage facilities.
"Ukraine compensated for a reduction in the amount of Russian gas on its eastern border by using gas from its own storage facilities. We were also ready to help European consumers and send additional volumes of gas from our underground storage facilities to them, and we informed the Russian side about that," the source said. | | |
