| Vice-President of the European Parliament Jacek Protasiewicz has said that the release of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison is a key requirement for the restoration of relations between Ukraine and the European Union, reads a statement posted on Tymoshenko's official Web site.
"Relations between Ukraine and the EU have reached an impasse. But the key to solving this problem is in the hands of the Ukrainian authorities. The release of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is the key to changing these relations," he said at a meeting with representatives of the Batkivschyna Party, Oleksandr Turchynov and Hryhoriy Nemyria.
The participants in the meeting discussed the political situation in Ukraine in the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine, which are scheduled for October 2012. | | |
